When to fold AAxx preflop when dominated (25/50 PLO)
Here's a situation I haven't encountered much, but I want justification on the what's the right play.
25/50 PLO - I have a bad AAxx (AA94 rainbow). I limp after one limper. neverlose (4.6K stack) raises to 250. GAHh (8.2K stack) raises to 925. Folds back to me (9.5K stack). Is this an obvious fold, a tough fold, or a "what are you thinking about, push the pot"? Of course the logic for folding is that one of them has a better AA, so why even get involved knowing you're behind? |

Reads? This sounds like folding is the best play here

[/ QUOTE ] The "better AA" alone generally doesn't have you dominated nearly as badly as you might think. The worry is that you're squeezed between a better AA and a solid middle-rundown hand. If you think there's a very good chance of that, there's nothing wrong with folding in this spot, esp. out of position against aggressive opponents (so calling isn't going to work). |

So, you're saying you don't want to push the possible edge against the third hand (even for nearly all the chips preflop), because maybe chopping the third hand up is not worth him possibly scooping the pot vs. 2 AA hands?

[/ QUOTE ] Unlike in hold'em, where two aces hands can "chop up" a 3rd player pretty well, the 3rd guy in omaha will frequently have the best of it all-in -- or at least be doing much better than the worse aces. This is especially true of medium rundown hands, less true of pair hands. |
