50$ new to PLO
Villain is bad, but I don't have Omaha PT so no stats. He seems to be playing a lot of hands, even for raises, preflop, with little regard to position. Probably not a thinking player, definitely not good. I've seen him pot two streets then c/f river on a very drawy board that bricked out previously, but hasn't been involved in any big pots other than that.
Converter in the FAQ isn't working for me so I'm just posting HH straight from the site: PokerStars Game #12147128691: Omaha Pot Limit ($0.25/$0.50) - 2007/09/19 - 12:27:53 (ET) Table 'Juliana II' 6-max Seat #1 is the button Seat 1: floydey ($66.40 in chips) Seat 2: lost243 ($40.75 in chips) Seat 3: Rosvosektori ($50 in chips) Seat 4: petitamie ($39.05 in chips) Seat 5: Supwithbates ($50 in chips) Seat 6: PokerrrG ($29.25 in chips) lost243: posts small blind $0.25 Rosvosektori: posts big blind $0.50 *** HOLE CARDS *** Dealt to Supwithbates [Js Jc Ah 3d] petitamie: folds Supwithbates: raises $1.25 to $1.75 PokerrrG: folds floydey: calls $1.75 lost243: folds Rosvosektori: calls $1.25 *** FLOP *** [Qd Kh Th] (5$) Rosvosektori: checks Supwithbates: bets $4 floydey: calls $4 Rosvosektori: folds *** TURN *** [Qd Kh Th] [2d] (12.5$) Supwithbates: bets $10.50 floydey: calls $10.50 *** RIVER *** [Qd Kh Th 2d] [9s] (33$) Supwithbates: bets $21.50 Im specifically interested in river play. My thoughts were to bet small to induce a call from a set or naked J, check to induce a bluff, or just bet bigger (2/3-psb) What would you do in this situation? A little later, vs. same villain: PokerStars Game #12147205246: Omaha Pot Limit ($0.25/$0.50) - 2007/09/19 - 12:33:52 (ET) Table 'Juliana II' 6-max Seat #5 is the button Seat 1: floydey ($33.65 in chips) Seat 2: lost243 ($64.85 in chips) Seat 3: Rosvosektori ($47 in chips) Seat 5: Supwithbates ($75.80 in chips) Seat 6: PokerrrG ($30.45 in chips) PokerrrG: posts small blind $0.25 floydey: posts big blind $0.50 *** HOLE CARDS *** Dealt to Supwithbates [Ad Kd Tc Ac] lost243: calls $0.50 Rosvosektori: folds Supwithbates: raises $1.75 to $2.25 petitamie has returned PokerrrG: folds floydey: calls $1.75 lost243: calls $1.75 *** FLOP *** [7c 8s Ah] floydey: checks lost243: checks Supwithbates: bets $5.50 floydey: calls $5.50 lost243: folds *** TURN *** [7c 8s Ah] [Td] floydey: checks Supwithbates: checks Is checking this turn scarecard standard or losing value vs. a bad player? I felt as if a large part of his range on this type of a flop was a wraparound-straight type hand, but given that I've played like 500 lifetime hands of Omaha it may be way wider. Villain has shown to be passive with monsters at this point, checking 3 streets 3-way OOP with KK37hh on an AKxhh flop and bricks on turn and river. Given that, I would expect that he would check 100% of his range here, no idea how he would play 2pair. |

Re: 50$ new to PLO
Hand 1, I'd bet a little smaller on the river, probably half pot. Only hands that ever call me is the nuts for a chop in this situation. I have had people shove over the top when I've bet small with the nuts.
Hand 2, I don't know why you'd check that. Even if he has a straight you have outs and just because he checks monsters is no reason to put him on one. |

Re: 50$ new to PLO
I've played with the villain in question. He is probably one of the worst omaha players I have ever played. I've noted many poor plays by him, the most recent getting his money in 3 way with Q-7-5-3 one suit before the flop.
Hand 1 is fine, he is a really passive player and wont bluff here. Hand 2 for sure pot the turn, his range is huge here and he will pay you off with two pair or a lower set. He probably would pay you off with just an ace. |
