200NL - top set from the BB
Villain here is a 11/7/2 regular. He plays pretty straightforward from what I've seen. I sometimes raise preflop, but with this many people, I figured giving them reverse implied odds with lower PP was better. The part I'm not sure about is the river... is this a call or push?

Re: 200NL - top set from the BB
Call the river.
You have too much in the pot to fold. And it is quite possible that villain turned or rivered a straight. Call and expect anything from J9 (straight on turn), 67 (double gutter that made it on the river), QTs, 85s, T8s, or even a slow-played lower set. If I had to guess, I'd say 67, but I'd still call given the pot odds. I would not raise simply because his line seems to indicate a straight a fairly good percentage of the time and I don't want to put a lot more in over his show of great strength with that small river raise. |

Re: 200NL - top set from the BB
I think his range is pretty much QQ, 88, 44, QT, J9, T8 and 67. However, he probably raises 88/44 sooner and QQ would probably be raised preflop. So I think you're looking at QT, J9, or 67. Assuming only suited combos you're an 8-1 dog and the pot is laying you 4-1 so I vote fold. If you give him that full range you're about even money so then it would be a call.

J9 beats you, QQ beats you. So why just call? I raise here.

Re: 200NL - top set from the BB
agreed.
villian is 11/7 and he limps from CO? I can never put him on J9 or QQ. Looks like he has 44 or 88, I push. |

Re: 200NL - top set from the BB
Not raising preflop is gross.
If villain is decent and plays straightforward then he raises 44/88 on the flop or turn. I think youre gonna see the straight a fair amount (67 more often if he is, in fact, a straightforward player) but some 2pairs and sets as well. That being said, I think this is a call, rather than a push. |
