Re: $20, AQs first hand, how did i play it?
Turn: It is close between a flat call and a raise here.
Flat calling is nice because we will keep the pot small, lose the least when we are behind, and continue to get paid off by a wide range of hands. Raising is a better option because we extract maximum value from worse hands and protect our hand from being drawn out on by two opponents. I raise it to t400 on the turn. River: That river bet is way to small. As plated, I would bet t350-t450. |

Re: $20, AQs first hand, how did i play it?
nice line. i like the smallball approach at early stage of the SNG.
only thing i might do diff is maybe reraise on the turn to define your hand and stop draws getting there as the Ks puts flush and broadway draws out there. don't know if i could truthfully say i'd play it the same way all the time but i strive! -donk |

I might of raised the flop (not sure why people want to wait til the turn), but a lot of times I'll call this down and keep the pot small.

[/ QUOTE ] i think AdQd is one of those hands people get into trouble with and overvalue, so i think calling with position is a pretty good play on the first hand of the SNG. though having said that, raising with AdQd could be acceptable as well, but on the first hand, i don't think there's any need to build a big pot. out of curiosity, what does the OP put original raiser on? i'm leaning towards QQ or JJ... -donk |
