Credit Cards

Im new to the whole credit card game, can someone help me clear something up. I have two credit cards currently, one Visa and one Mastercard. I continually receive different Visa offers in the mail. I would like to get another card but is it possible to have more than one card from Visa? Something to do with it going through a different bank maybe?

Its the bank that issues the card that is important. (citibank, bank of america, mbna, etc.)

Not if its Visa or Mastercard.

Because banks and credit card companies are jerks and sometimes one of your cards won't work for no reason.
