Best Comedy Movie of all Time - Round Robin Division

Not an easy poll with more than 60 suggestions. I've decided to group the movies by era, and that way the winningest movies from each era will move forward to compete against the other eras for best of all time.

To be fair to respondants, some movies may receive overwhelming support in their category and will possibly be additional picks in the elimination division.

Anyone who hasn't seen the movies in the 'Classic' group, I urge you to do so, because they are all hilarious and really stand the test of time.

Issues:

-If we're only allowed to vote for one, I think the 1980s and 1990s categories are too big.
-Office Space was made in the 1990s
-Caddyshack and Arthur were both made in the 1980s

This is kind of an impossible poll. They should be in brackets of 3 or 4, voting for 1 out of 8+ movies doesn't really allow the cream to rise to the top.

You might be right, but I hope the sample of respondants is big enough to give us a feel for the best of each group. I won't let any good movies get eliminated here, don't worry.

As for the dates, I realize the issues, but I wanted to even out the groups a bit. Besides, Caddyshack was in 1980, which counts as the 70's for some, but I put it in the 70's mostly because of the wardrobes [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

I was going to make the same complaints that others have already made, but my choices are all in first place except for one (Clerks, which is inexplicably losing to the Big Lebowski).

I'm not sure how this is a round robin. Seems more like a tournament.

Office Space - Easily in that division.

Clerks - Very close, but it will always make me laugh.

Groundhog Day - Funny, and simply the best movie out of all of them on the list.

Being There - The only comedy that didn't make me laugh, It is a wonderful film though and in a meh grouping I will happily take it.

The Philadelphia Story - The easy winner for classic comedies, and my choice as the best pure comedy of all time.

I think 40yov was "lol" funnier than Office Space, but O.S. is a classic and its funny on a deeper level.

The 70's is tough...lotta good ones but since I know caddyshack and blazing saddles will get a lot of votes I casted for Slapshot.

Oh, also...somebody voted for LIAR LIAR!?!? wtf. That movie is trumped by Blankman, So I married an Axe murderer, Class Act, and many many other movies from the 90's, but whateva. [img]/images/graemlins/tongue.gif[/img]
