Thoughts on whether it's better to get three weak teams or two weak and one strong team in the group?

If you draw Chelsea or Barcelona in the group stage you can't face them in the knockout rounds until the finals, no?

Looks like AC milan has the easiest road. REal Madrid, Arsenal and Valencia also got favorable draws.

False. Chelsea and Barca can't meet each other in the 1/8 final rounds. But the draw for each round after that is random (or should I say "random").

What's interesting is that Chelsea and Barca meet each other in consecutive games (Oct 18 and 31).

Also, Chelsea had an equal chance to meet Inter, Milan, Real Madrid, and Valencia. With the exception of Valencia, people would have been saying "tough draw for Chelsea"

Can someone please explain how the draw works to me? In regards to which teams can and cannot draw each other.

I know the in the World Cup, you have the "seeds", who can't draw each other. Is it the same way with the CL? If so, it makes little sense that Barca and Chelsea are not both "seeds."

Seeding is based on how a team has done in the past 5 years. Chelsea only got bought and revitalized by Abromovich 3 years ago so the 2 years before that were pretty much worthless and count against them.

Agreed. Great website.

Quick answer: in the group stage, clubs from the same country can't meet each other. After that, teams are separated into 4 pools based on their seeding (last 5 year's performance). Each group has one team from each pool.
