Sure, a value bet does not depend on bet size, but if you want to think of all your hands as a package, instead of individual hands, Shania will tell you to value bet what your bluffs would look like. So even if you think an opponent will call a huge bet on the river, in theory you make more money on the long time making the bet size that an opponent can not adjust to (value bet and bluff similar amounts). I would think there are many spots where an opponent will call a 2x bet but it would be more correct to bet .75x so that your entire game works as a package. If you are routinely bluffing 1.5x and more size of the pot, then I think you could make your argument. -Jason |
