I donk with the best of them
Live game.
4 limpers, I check BB with K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. Flop is Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. I donk. UTG limper calls. 2 folds. Button (raise/folder, loves to make "good" laydowns) raises. I call to trap UTG. UTG calls. Turn 7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. I hate this card. Donk or try a CR? |

Re: I donk with the best of them
do we think UTG is calling if we donk? Plenty of outs if we're behind. CR screams monster so I only see UTG putting in any moeny if you go for the CR if he's ahead. If the button likes to make good folds he may not guve you any more action either. If you donk though, UTG may call and button may raise to give you a shot at 3-betting.
I think you're probably still ahead, and even if you're not you have plenty of outs. I'm trying to get as much money in on the turn as I can so it depends on the read of the UTG player |

Re: I donk with the best of them
this isn't that terrible of a card for you
i'm not sure why you didn't 3bet the flop and lead the turn though |

Re: I donk with the best of them
I 3bet the flop and lead the turn. The same amount of BB's go in and you can maybe lose a player.

Re: I donk with the best of them
The flop isn't a donk since noone raised PF..
I would've 3 bet the flop. As played I'd donk, if we check/raise we might not get much action when we're good. Button will probably make a "good" fold alot, and we don't want to knock UTG's Qx or worse diamond out. |

Re: I donk with the best of them
i like a donk and call the raise if necessary
we have a redraw to a house, and a draw to the 2nd nut flush...button could have flop raised weaker trips, top pair with good kicker, or flush draw for a free card, or could have in part been defending against flush draw...we may beat his flush if we complete ours on the river...seems weak not to bet here and there are enough hands we are ahead of to try a bet/semi-bluff of the flush right... good question, thanks for posting it |

I hate the 3 flush card not because i felt someone necessarily had it, but because i thought it was an action killer. perhaps my whole line of thinking is off in this hand. |

Re: I donk with the best of them
when you have a big hand that may or may not be slightly vulnerable you don't really want to slowplay and keep in other players imo. if you had a boat/real monster already, fine, it's possible then

Re: I donk with the best of them
3-bet the flop - a raise is usually a queen (which will call down) or a flush draw which you'd like to pay to draw. Turn can easily get checked through. Plus if button or the initial caller does have a 5, you usually cost yourself action. Jam it on the flop.

Re: I donk with the best of them
bet/3bet the flop. i play my hand really fast on the flop in this situation.
as played i really don't like a turn checkraise. worse hands might be scared to bet because of the flush and it might check through. among other things, having a scarecard out(unless someone holds a flush/FH) has the effect on your bet of allowing the money to go in with a higher average equity edge than checking and reacting to a bet(from what is usually a more narrow, stronger range). we profit more from just betting the turn as a result of the wider range of weaker hands calling versus betting in that spot. |
