Re: Any good space-based strategy games?
There really is no comparison to the Homeworld series in my opinion.

Re: Any good space-based strategy games?
Galactic Civilizations II seems like they smashed together Ascendancy and MOO. It's a decent game, but for some reason it never really grabbed me. Looking at the OP, it would seem he feels the same way.

Re: Any good space-based strategy games?
Space Rangers 2 is cool. Not really a strategy game as much as you're an independent ship. Smuggling, fighting, etc. RPGish with lots of other things.
Good game, but I wouldn't put it in the space strategy category. |

Re: Any good space-based strategy games?
Armada was cool on the DC awhile back. I never got around to getting very far or even buying Armada 2. They were more of a strategy/rpg style.

Stars! and MOO2
MOO = Masters of Orion
Moo3 was a buggy piece of crap and I was dumb enough to buy it. MOO2 is great but it has a few mouse bugs due to modern versions of windows. Stars! by empire interactive is a cult classic but not for everyone. The game is no longer in production but you can still find copies of it. The creators of the game had a great idea but their marketing of the game was STUUUUPID. Stars! is a true strategy game where you create your own race, manage research of new technologies, design your own ships, and manage the production of your war machine. For some people they find the mgmt tedious but I liked it... |
