is Warranty worth it for MacBook Pros?
I'm going to buy my first ever MacBook Pro on Friday when new OSX goes live. Plan on getting the best 15 inch model which is around $2200 with my student discount.
Is it worth buying the warranty for the laptop? I read somewhere that you have up to a year to buy it. Is it better to wait and in meantime if something breaks within first year buy it then? Realistically I can't imagine keeping a laptop longer then 2 years, but its possible I'll keep this one longer. I normally would never buy a warranty but this is definitely my biggest notebook investment I've made. Any experiences w/ MacBook breakage or dealing with Apple's warranty service? |

Re: is Warranty worth it for MacBook Pros?
Yes, it's almost always worth buying the warranty for a laptop.
All of the below are true about desktops.<ul type="square">[*]If my video card dies, I can probably fix it myself.[*]If the keyboard dies, I can trash it and just plug in a new one.[*]If I need to buy a new soundcard, I can buy one for pretty much the same price the manufacturer can.[/list]None of these things are true about laptops. |

Re: is Warranty worth it for MacBook Pros?
You have a 1 year warranty for your macbook, so you are set for the first year. You can buy apple care extended warranty to extend it another 2 years.

Re: is Warranty worth it for MacBook Pros?
Pretty sure that is the case, but if you don't plan on having the lappy for more than 2 years I wouldn't worry about it. Most likely, anything serious that is going to go wrong with it will sooner rather than later.
