Initially I was planning on floating them when bet into on the flop, basically representing a strong ace, on the basis that if I had a hand like AK I would most likely call rather then re raise here. The Q was a decent card as well however, giving me a few more outs, to the straight. I decided to try my original plan however, with a reasonable chance of taking down the pot. Obviously I got c/r and couldn't even consider continuing. Here's the question, should I have proceed with my original intent, and tried to take the pot down on the turn, or should I have taken the free card, on the basis that my hand can't stand any more action. I feel that now I got C/R I would have loved to taken the card, but thats also being results orientated. What's your opinion on it? Cheers. |

Re: 50nl - Float gone wrong
I don't mind this line, it's likely the SB 3bet pf with AK. Not likely he's CR'ing AJ. This to me looks most like 66,22 or AQ (although this may be 3bet often). This is the area in my game which I need to improve most.
Betting the turn will fold out 77-TT, I'd also have bet closer to $7.5. I'd like to see what others have to say about this. |

Re: 50nl - Float gone wrong
I make it like 7 on the turn, this is a standard place to float though. Dry board, one high card. I prefer to float someone with TAG stats though over someone with loose stats fwiw.

Re: 50nl - Float gone wrong
Once you call on the flop, the 4 outs you picked up aren't enough to ditch your original plan of stealing on the turn.
i dont like floating a 10% raiser on a A high flop though. |

Id rather check behind and raise the river or bet when cheked to. But here, you are toast. |

Re: 50nl - Float gone wrong
I just fold the flop on these boards if I'm the preflop raiser. A 3/4 pot donk on this board is almost always strong

And if he checks (pot would be ~$10 at that point) he's calling our $8 bluff bet with a lot of hands - even pp's often. Against a decent reg TAG, I think these lines might be sexy, but not here IMO. I like OP's float attempt - villain's line is pretty unusual (I can't quite work out what he plays like this except perhaps a set) and OP was unlucky to get eaten. Obv, fold as played. |

Re: 50nl - Float gone wrong
Does one really ever need to float in NL50? With all of the payoff monkeys I've run into at NL50, I doubt I'm trying this much, if at all. I've seen many people call this w/ A9 or what-not.
Has this villain exhibited that he can fold in this situations already? There is just so much money in these limits and so many people basically giving it away, I'd really stay away from these lines unless you have a good read. Also, after picking up 4 more outs, I'd just check behind on turn to see the river. |
