Re: The Ultimate Fighter / UFC thread
Traz, I actually agree with you to a certain extent. However, a jardine/silva fight just isn't as marketable as a liddell/silva fight. Houston is for sure headed for a title shot if he beats his next opponent. I'd be shocked otherwise.
Imo, a griffin/silva fight would be more justifiable from a meritocracy perspective but you can't deny the powerful story line of a liddell/silva fight. $5 says it will be called UFC 80 - redemption. Btw, where do you guys think Jardine will go from here? No way they will offer him a title shot before Houston. Maybe a Machida/Jardine undercard in the serra/hughes card on Dec 29th? Would be interesting for sure. Another question, is Henderson officially dropping down to the MW division? Having him and possibly Hughes join that division would really help that weight class. |

Re: The Ultimate Fighter / UFC thread
There already was a UFC card titled "Redemption" (UFC 17).
Henderson has stated repeatedly that he doesn't want to fight at 185. I wouldn't be so sure that Alexander is next in line for a title shot if he beats Thiago Silva next month. There were rumors circulating that the winner of Bisping/Evans would get Rampage in February (which is pretty LOL, but whatever). You could also give it to Wanderlei if he gets past Chuck. Then there's Forrest Griffin and Lyoto Machida who are probably as or more deserving that Houston. I'd like to see Houston beat one of the top or upper second tier guys (Chuck, Tito, Wandy, Shogun, Forrest, Machida, Hendo, etc.) before he fights for a title. |

Re: The Ultimate Fighter / UFC thread
For a little TUF talk, the previews for this episode make it look like it could be one of the better episodes of the series. I guess I should put it in white since people might not watch them?
Dan gets his ass beat by Hughes in practice, and it looks like a crazy ending to the fight. You can see Dana in the dressing room going "That was an amazing fight". Lets hope its good. |

Re: The Ultimate Fighter / UFC thread
On spike TV right now they're showing Randy Couture's win against Tim Sylvia. Anyone else find it weird that the UFC is putting this match on right now in light of what's happening with Randy?

Re: The Ultimate Fighter / UFC thread
This was announced a couple of days ago, but I'm pretty excited.
http://mmamania.com/2007/11/02/ufc-8...tweight-title/ B.J. Penn and Joe "Bigdaddy" Stevenson will fight this January at UFC 80 to determine the Interim Lightweight Champion. The winner will presumably fight current title holder Sean Sherk if and when his steriod allegations are cleared up. Penn is one of my all time favorite fighters and I'm pretty excited about his chances to become a UFC champion again. |
