Re: NCAA Bowl Thread
McCoy looked impatient on that redzone attempt. Big stand by Iowa to only allow a FG.

That was a pretty big play there. Another Jersey kid getting it done today.

Re: NCAA Bowl Thread
big drive from Iowa from their own 2. It looked like Texas was taking control. Of course, it helps to get away with holding on the second down play.

Re: NCAA Bowl Thread
[ QUOTE ]
I love college football, but sometimes the coaching is so bad, it is hard to watch. I thought nobody could top Glen Mason's job last night, but Navy did it today. For those who didn't see, Navy leads by 2 with 1:50 to go. Their ball at the 50, BC has no timeouts left and it is 3rd and 15. I thought it was obvious you just run up the middle, take the clock down close to 1 minute, and punt BC deep. Game almost certainly over. Instead, Navy runs the option, and they fumble the pitch. BC gets it at the Navy 40, a few plays later they kick the game winning field goal. Now why on earth do you run a risky option play on 3rd and 15. Do you really think you are going to pick up the first? Very little chance. I feel sorry for the Navy players. They play their hearts out, and have the game virtually won. Then the coach calls a risky play and they lose. They deserved better. [/ QUOTE ] Considering how outmanned Navy is by any decent D1 team, I find it hard to blame a game on a coaching staff that did a phenomenal job to get them to that point. If they get the first down, it's game over, and running the triple option is 80% of their gameplan, and they broke several long runs earlier in the game even though everyone in stadium knows what's coming. |

Re: NCAA Bowl Thread
Dear Coach Ferentz,
You had a TE and two wideouts both on the near side. The slot guy was off the line and the wideout was on the line of scrimmage. The wideout 'covered' the TE and the TE was thus inelgible to go down the field. Learn the rules and quit berating the officials who made the correct call. thnx |

I wish ESPN would just highlight the formation at the snap and show how easily correct the call was. Why have 'controversy' when it shouldn't exist? The near side wideout is on the line. |

Re: NCAA Bowl Thread
How do you guys feel about Navy joining a conference such as Conference USA? Do you think that would help them recruit? I mean they do perfectly fine and I really like the semi-rivalry that Rutgers has with Navy right now, so I don't want to see them leave independent status.
Pretty much, should Navy join a conferece? |
