I am thinking of buying custom parts and making my own pc
So far i decided to buy the following parts in new egg



I was wondering if they are good and compatible.

Why AM2?

The sweet spot on HDD's right now (price + size) are the 500Gig.

That's the RAM I've used in my last 2 builds. I'd highly recommend that as well.

That's also the same video card I use for my secondary monitors.

Other than the AM2 part and HDD size, good choices thus far.

what i did is browse around some pc building forum, looka round a few cheap builds and get parts which were beign recomended by everyone

Not being a dick here, but why not take some time of your own and do some of your own research and decide for yourself or THEN come here asking for advice?

I mean, I spent 2.5 weeks reading up on my rig and comparing parts etc.

Why not just buy a prebuilt and save yourself the effort then if you're not wanting to learn about your own rig?

Sorry if this comes off as being short/rude, but it's really true bro. If you don't care enough to try and learn about your rig, why should we?

C2D provides more bang for buck than AMD at the moment so i would definitley go C2D. This means you will need to change your mobo as well.

I've heard this a number of times so I headed over to Tom's Hardware and compared the chip he selected to a similarly priced Intel chip (Conroe E6650 for $15 extra). I didn't count but the cheaper AMD chip won a majority of benchmarks I looked at. Including h.264 which I use alot. Personally they're so close saving the $15 is a no brainer.

i think the C2D > AMD comments are more relative to the higher end - Q6600 and E6850 are allegedly significantly ahead of AMD. it seems to me that the Q6600 would be a huge bargain for poker players at the moment.

At the lower end, just get whichever is cheaper.
