Default Superman Returns on Sportsbook.com

Just checked out Sportsbook...no good odds on Click, but I did notice Superman Returns. $89.5 from 6/28-6/30 Over and Under at -120 odds. I think this under is something to look at. Sure, Superman hasn't been out in a while, and there are a lot of people anticipating it, but people will still be working. July 4th isn't until the next week. Don't get me wrong, Wednesday numbers should be high, as well as Friday, but Thursday should be a fall off.

There isn't much to compare this movie to. I did look at the 3rd Lord of the Rings, which brought in the most money out of the 3. It had a 5 day total of 124M. Broken down from Wed-Fri it did 73. One thing about LOTR:ROTK is that it was a whopping 3 hours and 30 minutes long. That obviously affected the totals.

The only other movie to open on a Wednesday that we can compare it to is Spiderman 2. From Wed-Fri it did 96M. It was a sequel to a recently released movie though. It was only 2 hours 7 mins long. It also opened in over 4,000 theaters. Superman Returns is 2 hours 32 minutes long. I'm not sure how many theaters it opens in.

Well I'm still not sure which way to go. There just isn't enough to compare it to over a Wed-Fri release date. Most movies don't even get near 89M over that period, but SR isn't like most movies obviously. The only other movie to compare it to is Shrek 2, which was a kids movie. It's Wed-Fri numbers didn't come close, but it EXPLODED on Sat and Sun which is to be expected.

Well hopefully I gave you all some food for thought since this week looks like it'll be a no play for most of us.
