Re: I hate donk bets
Push. He usually ends up with a hand like 68,78,88,99 here so much of the time...or even a hand like K8s,A8.
These donks usually do not play sets like this. They either might check/call and minraise flop or possibly 3 bet flop against you to a weird weak amount. Think there is a lot of value in pushing and you'll be surprised how often you get called by worse that feels like "gambling" with a pair and a straight draw. And I'm probably making it a little bigger on the flop. |

Re: I hate donk bets
I'd raise a bigger on the flop against a loose player, maybe 22-25 or so. By the turn I'd consider pushing over that little bet. I think he's drawing too, and with a lot of outs.

Re: I hate donk bets
Yeah, im thinking more of a raise pre flop if your OOP and a bigger raise on flop. After the 3 comes then move in to his bet. If he has 44 then hes an idiot.

Re: I hate donk bets
if you guys shove do you really expect to be called by a lot of hands like pair+sd etc.. I think shoving here is bad because a) you are behind lots- even if he doesnt have a straight he could have 65/76 or any other 2 pair combo and b) you can get more value from one pair hands by calling turn and calling/ value betting river.

Re: I hate donk bets
My main concern in this hand is that given that I opened UTG (I'm really tight UTG) BB knows I will bet a lot of my range on that board. He would really have better odds to draw if he checked, I bet, get some callers then he calls.
This of course only applies if he's a thinking player at all, which I'm not quite sure. By donking into me here, the most likely scenario is that I raise and everybody else folds, that's why I would say that his hand is often a made hand. Turn: ($52.50) 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 Players) BB bets $10.00, Hero calls $10.00 River: ($72.50) K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 Players) BB bets $20.00, Hero calls $20.00 Pot Size: $112.50 ($3 Rake) That's what I ended up doing |
