Re: Unusual and/or disgusting beverages
I tried making a beer slurpee this summer.*
Tasted nasty. Very fluffy nasty texture mixed in with the ice. I think my mistake was adding the beer during the blending process. Maybe processing the ice and then adding the beer would help. Or maybe i should have frozen the beer itself and then blended it. *It was too hot to not drink anything not made of ice during that week. |

Re: Unusual and/or disgusting beverages
Further to the Calpico/Calpis discussion, I actually bought this to try one night in Bangkok. It was the grape variety, and I cautiously sipped the purple milky beverage, expecting it to be curdled, sour and disgusting.
In all honesty...it wasn't that bad. I'm not sure what possesed me to try "fermented carbonated milk beverage with grape flavour" but I'm kind of glad I did. Also...dinner roll or pea and antacid soda, anyone? |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [/ QUOTE ] This was the first thing that popped into my head. [/ QUOTE ] I meant to say that this is the most disgusting tasting thing ever. Worse than taking a swing from a soda that someone's dumped a cigarette into [/ QUOTE ] FTW. I have never actually tried this stuff. Dr. Brown's Black Cherry is delicious, but I don't know about this celery crap... |

Anyone had Kvass (Fermented Bread)? It's mentioned a lot in Russian novels; I've always wondered what it tastes like. [/ QUOTE ] I'm Russian and my Dad owned a bakery for a couple years (bakeries often make kvas because .. well duh). I'd get the stuff "fresh" and it was definitely some of the best in the city (Toronto). Basically it tastes like beer. Not as heavy. ________ As to OP, the first thing that popped into my head was a Russian home remedy for colds/flus that I've been made to endure a few times. Phonetically it's called "Goghle moghle" (shutup) and consists of a glass of warm milk with tablespoons of honey (I hate honey) and... a raw egg. While I understand that the protein boost this sloppy mess possesses may have been beneficial to the average 16th century communist, the fact kids are still forced to choke this [censored] down should be a human rights violation. |

Re: Unusual and/or disgusting beverages
I just thought of another one. Vichy soda sold at Stewart's. It's some sort of old fashioned thing and I think it might be worse than Cel-Ray
Maybe it's meant for cooking or something and not drinking. |
