Default Vegas Baby Vegas....(Hotel ? Post)

Sup -
Going to Vegas with around ~8 people for a weekend bachelor party this summer. Looking for a nice suite on the strip. While realizing this is going to cost $ we don't want to pay out the nose for a place like the Wynn. A friend mentioned that the Luxor was ok for around ~$300/night (the search function didn't yield a ton of info on this); are there places of comparable prices that are better?
I'm also staying till Wednesday after most of my friends leave Sunday/Monday; what would be the best cheap place; Motel 6 or Hooters?
Mucho thanks - hopefully a servicable TR to follow in a couple months

Actual On The Strip (on the end you likely want) wise the cheapest places would be Tropicana and Barbary Coast, ask about suites.
Otherwise further down, try the Stratosphere and the New Frontier (NF is gone in less than 60 days).

I'm not sure what passable dumps are left on the strip anymore, downtown will be cheaper.

Sign up for MGM's email list. They send out slight discounts and have lots of suites.

For your Sun-Wed stay....look at Bills Gambling Hall(no pool though), Imperial Palace, Excaliber, Hooters, Casino Royale(no pool). Occasionally other places have really good rates as well on weekdays. Of the above, Bill's has the nicest rooms. Also check out any Harrahs hotels as they have a best rate guarantee if you find a cheaper rate elsewhere. Harrahs and Ballys have nice rooms. Flamingos rooms are kinda worn, but the pool is top notch.

I would avoid Tropicana because their cheapest rooms are the Garden Rooms and are awful.

For the suites, check MGM's website. There are some really large nice ones that might cost $500 a night, but will easily accomodate 8 people. There are also smaller ones(750 sq ft or so). For your room Sun-Wed check out Kayak.com, sidestep.com, travelaxe.com, expedia.com, and travelocity.com. I don't recommend priceline because a 2 or 3 star hotel may land you at a place off the strip too far. Like with 4 star hotels, you usually get Westin Causarina which sucks because its a 3 block walk to the strip.

OK, so we booked a suite @Mandalay & then the Trop for mid-week.

Best ~5/10 limit games (or are they all ridiculously soft still)?

Also, any stripper recommendations?

Thanks

No 5/10 game in Vegas. Every game 2/4, 3/6 and 4/8 will be soft. Pros aren't playing low limit.

Default tl;dr vegas virgin trip report

The occassion is one of my best H.S. buddies Drew's batchelor party. The other cast includes HS friends who currently live all over the place. We don't see each other very often.

Day 1 - I get in at around 2pm & meet my buddy Sean at the airport. He just got done w/ the bar exam & is ready to party. We're told by Drew that the shuttle to Mandalay Bay is 40 minutes because it's the last stop. Obviously he didn't have a half dozen people screaming "Man-da-lay" on his shuttle - it took us 15. Good start! We get to the hotel and are blown away at how nice it is; like we really shouldn't be staying here, but oh well.

We meet up w/ Drew and our other buddy Joe. Joe works for Corona and has already coordinated a 3 case delivery to our room. The only catch is that they're warm but we quickly fill the bath tub with ice; start drinking. While we wait for our other friend Steve to land we shoot the $h!t by playing some pitch - which was an enormously popular 2-on-2 card game in our HS days, rarely played anymore.

I play a brief $4/8 session - this game is pretty fantastic. There were maybe 10 preflop raises in the hour I was at the table and I was ~8 of them? Clear maniac image. I bet TPTK on every street & some lady calls me down with pocket 6's full on a harmless board....mmk. I bet/fold a straight on a 3flush turn which I'd do ~never online, but I felt ok about it. +$20 session with mucho variance.

We go get changed & get hammered @Red Square & Forty Deuce, talking to every chick in site. I'm amazed at how friendly they all are....I guess cause they're all on vacation? (insert hooker joke here too).

The Best Man arrives @12:30am equipped with a double headed dildo in his luggage and has a stripper scheduled for our suite shortly. The strippers were like 2 hrs late & Sean/Joe are getting raped at blackjack - I tell them they're gay and head up to the suite myself. When the strippers finally get there @3am it was worth the wait however - they made fine use of the double dong.

Everyone goes to sleep & I head downstairs for another session while literally falling asleep at the table; then the game breaks up. Meh, could've been better but a solid 'B' opening day.

Day 2 - Joe & I wake up late and grab a solid breakfast at Raffles then head down to the Mandalay pool. Some chicks we met the night before saved us seats right up front by the pool. Good thing since the sand was ~800 degrees. Afterwords there was some disagreement re: the hotness of the chicks there: I felt they were acceptable, Drew said not so much but whatever he's getting married.

The Best man and I go back & play for the afternoon...I'm coldecked & dump $150 in uneventful hands.

We hit up a nice Italian restaurant in the hotel for dinner. Drew says my seafood order was a bad idea, given the level of drinking ahead of us but I love shrimp & never cook it.

Next stop is Club Rain in the Palms. I Def. recommend the overpriced table reservation to not have to wait in line or pay a cover. I felt really old in here. Fortunately there was a Batchelorette party next to us, which worked out well. Still I had a rough Day 1 & the room started spinning when I sat down. I'm the puss of the night as I go back to puke & pass out at 3:30. Maybe Drew was right; suprising cause he's usually wrong. He is getting married afterall.

Day 3 - The others stumble in at 6am & fill me in on the details, not excluding a trashy strip club and limo ride. We wake up & decide to hit the pool again & begin drinking immediately. Joe says he's still drunk from the night before & I believe him. He is kind of the "Stiffler" of the group - blond hair blue eyes, not very book smart, but he's good looking & has some game.

We decide to check out the Hard Rock pool even though we had heard we'll never get in. On the way we stop at a cool Margaritta place that serves yards - Karla is a cool bartender.

hen we get to Rehab the HR pool the annoyance of 4 lines is easily offset by our now drunken stupor. We're high-fiving anything w/ breasts in site. There are reportedly girls from Rain last night we're supposed to meet. When we finally get strip-searched & enter the pool I realize I'm maybe the fattest guy there (6'1" 210Lbs) which migtht've been intimidating if I was sober....phew. Never found our Rain girls but met some NY chicks who looked like they wanted to party. This place was like the MTV Spring Break paradise that I was too poor to attend in college. It unfortunately closes @8 and everyone but me passes out cause I had an "early" night on day 2.

I meet up w/ Drew, Best Man and some of his college friends to head to some Strip Club called Rhino - a decent looking flat chested girl from Wisconsin with stripper friends had recommended it, so what can go wrong? It was ok althought they kinda forced lap-dances on us. Not opting for the backstage ($100 I'm guessing?)activity instead of a couple cheezy $20 table dances was probly a bad idea. Oh well.

Back to the hotel and I'm still wide awake somehow. I walk around to Excalliber, Luxor & Mandalay....can't find any f&^%ing limit games outside of 2/4. I sit down at Mandalay where there's a raisin' Asian apparant regular not looking at his cards & just straddling every hand. Whatever, he seems like an alright guy. Next to him are two deuchebags who think they're tough w/ gold chains & look like the queer "furniture thieves" on Seinfeld. When I pick up KK, Deuchebag A notifies me that "If you had any experience you'd have limp rereaised there". I say "yeah it's too bad I have no experience". A few pots later he asks smugly if I'm a pro cause he's a funny guy. I say "No I don't have experience, remember?" Deuchebag B asks the same question 5 minutes later. Apparantly they're out of material already. I want to challenge them to HU but all my friends are asleep & it's 5am and I thought I read somewhere that nothing good happens after 5am.

Day 4 - All 7 of us meet up for breakfast before most of them catch a flight to Cali. Sean, Steve and I stick around and check into the Trop cause we can't afford to stay anywhere nice anymore. The Trop is pretty ghetto but for $75/night in a nice location we couldn't complain.

We decide to walk the strip & see the light show at Bellagio and grab another Yard of Margaritta since that worked out so well for me on Day 3. We meet yesterday's girls from Rehab at Coyote Ugly where there's like a 10:1 guy:girl ratio. These NY chicks are immediately dancing on the bar & just pwning the party though - that was pretty cool. Steve says something to the bartender, gets his shirt squirted/soaked & shots forced down his throat. He's not a big guy, no way he makes it to midnight. We head back to the girl's casino hotel & donk around some video blackjack. I realize they're really tired after explaining to 1 of them that hitting on soft 21 is a bad idea. Still, it's their last night so they have to go out. We go to Jet in Mirage cause apparantly that's the place to be Monday night. Waiting in a huge line to pay a huge cover for a club that I'll probably hate typically doesn't appeal to me. I can't understate enough how huge it is to be able to drink in line though. How can this be so standard in Vegas and so unstandard everywhere else? I think I want to move here. We spend about 3 hrs at this place, my memory is a little sketchy. It was a much better time than Rain mainly cause I was drunker and plus we were with chicks whom every guy in the place was trying to bang. I do remember going to the worst-run McDonald's in the world for a late-night snack. The idea that a 5-person party could've ordered more than 1 Big Mac was apparantly a huge parlay for the manager to believe. Steve actually made it the whole night without puking/passing out....impressive.

Day 5 - We wake up at 2pm, lol. We walk over to Caesar's where my friends look for A-rods 500th HR which didn't happen even though the Yankees hit like 450 as a team that day, which amazingly was enough for Mussina.

I play some 3/6 and finally hit with a $200+ session. This old Chinese guy and I had the following exchange after one hand.
Him: "I didn't want to bet TP on the turn cause I had kicker problems" (after nobody raised PF & a table full of calling stations only called the flop). "But when the turn checked thru I figured I'm good". OK, so this guy's pretty bad/passive.
I limp in with 44 UTG+2 cause nobody raises pf at this table. This pot obv. gets raised, re-raised, 4bet & capped by Chinese guy obv. The flop is a beautiful J54 & I checkraise a field of hundreds including a couple guys in the waiting room. 3bet, 4bet, I 5bet cap. Turn is a 5, I bet, villian raises? WTF? I figured this guy was too much of a wuss to cap JJ pf but I can't put him on anything else at this point. River is a brick, checked thru, MHIG. Who are these people and where does the random aggression come from? Not sure why he thought AA was good or that I was a maniac after I had showed down good hands.
We go back to the Trop & I dump $50 on blackjack whick reminds me why I started playing poker. I go to bed sober for the first time w/ an early flight to Cali tomorrow.

Cali included more drunkeness, [censored] cops, lots of sunburn at the beach, and lots of "Forty Deuce" references as we played the tennis nintendo game which I suck at. I think I want to move to the West coast. If nothing else it's closer to Vegas. Coming out on the plus side in gambooling & still having to withdrawl from Stars cause I blew thru my checking account kinda sucks though. I'm going to kill myself at work tomorrow.
Cliff Notes: Yards of Margarittas are key. This is my new pre-game drink. Also I need to learn NL I guess.
