Default Standard haircut tip?

I give the girl at supercuts $20 for a $15 chop and she says "ok thanks". Surely she forgot how much I gave her or something - I'm not going anywhere. "Oh, did you want change?"
I mean, WTF? Is this absurd or no? I always thought a $2 tip was standard.

No idea whats standard. If the conversation is nice, or in the rare cases where they do I good job, I give a 33% tip, rest of the time standard flat 20% or five dollars, which ever is more.

Either give her $17 or just give her a $5 tip instead. Asking for $3 back is pretty lame. If you don't have the right change don't be a nit.

$2 tip is perfectly fine, especially for supercuts. When people say [censored] like "oh, you want change," I tend to not tip anything and never go anywhere near them again. If its a bar, the next time I visited I would get a different waitress and make sure to over-tip her.

Wow, $5? Maybe I am just a cheap bastard. I don't know if they're the same as waiters and you're supposed to give 20% or what - maybe I'll give $3 from now on. $5 seems a bit much.
The conversation went ok - she spent most of the time ranting about some crappy date she had and how the guy only spent $12 on dinner or something, so I just figured she had the cheapness/Jewish problem.

Haircut is $12, I give $15. I generally do a 20-25% to everyone who should be tipped, including haircut ladies.

If it's a non-tipped position (Jiffy Lube guy), I usually give $2-$3 if I feel like giving anything...
