Re: Have I Turned Dumb Over the Years?
I'm 31 and 8 table 6m fine. I am able to mentally keep track of my general image to the table (pahud helps of course) on each table to some degree. but I absolutely require my hud to fill in my opponent reads and I have no idea what is happening on my other tables when I'm not involved in a hand.

Re: Have I Turned Dumb Over the Years?
Try to drop down to lower stakes and try and play a bunch of tables. Focus on things like auto folding garbage hands to save time, etc. It's one of those things you just have to get used to over time.
FWIW, I'm almost 19 and generally play 6 tables. But I have 8-9 tabled before plenty. I'm most comfortable however playing just 6, but I might soon play 9 again. |

Re: Have I Turned Dumb Over the Years?
Playing 6 I don't get burnt out nearly as much but getting #s in is harder. At 8/9 I have to concentrate 100% and it stresses me (even changing tracks is a pain in the ass). I usually fluctuate between the two (6 and 9). I stay away from the "fast" tables usually as they add to the stress, unless I find some really good ones.

Re: Have I Turned Dumb Over the Years?
I can't play more than 6 an have probably wasted a ton of money breaking even trying. Now I mostly play 3-4 because it's more fun.
I suspect that starting as a teenager helps a lot in being able to multitable. I'm 26. |

Re: Have I Turned Dumb Over the Years?
playing way overrolled i get quite bored playing less than 8 and i think 10 is really the sweet spot for me. When i play higher ( still overrolled, yes im a nit) i can play less and still maintain focus.

Re: Have I Turned Dumb Over the Years?
Do you guys run tighter when playing all those tables? If you have a couple big hands rolling, do you ever just allow yourself to time out on some tables?

Re: Have I Turned Dumb Over the Years?
If I have 2 big hands at different tables I often dump the odd 67s OTB or AJs UTG, but it happens fairly infrequently.

Re: Have I Turned Dumb Over the Years?
I am 29, I play 12 x 6-Max (fast if possible) on Stars these last few weeks. Played nine before that, 6 before that. 12 on Party before that.
It's all about practice. Also, I (of course) use a few scripts to help out here & there I posted about this in the MSNL "Keeping an A game" thread... read that for more detail. Basically just pick a number you want to play and can comfortably fit w/o overlap (say 12). Double it (24). Drop to mini-stakes or play money, play until you can handle all of them w/o timing out. Cut down to "only" 12 ... after the ordeal of 24, 12 will seem cake, all the time in the world dave. |
