Just from SMP. I don't want to be intolerant so I suppose we could allow integers.

…but most theist will categorize religion as philosophy..

[/ QUOTE ]

I cringe when I hear Bill O’Reilly talk about (well anything, but that is beside my point) the “philosophy of Jesus.” Religion is not philosophy.

That being said, from a skepical and philosophical point of view, I think the fact that people believe in this nonsense is very important to philosophy, and that to an extent it's also of some importance to science, as it slows down or even prevents it's progress

[/ QUOTE ]

Progress to what and how does Religion impede such progress?

So do you think you can figure it out? I'm not sure you can.

[/ QUOTE ]Sure I can. And so can you. Just realize that Mathematics is a science, so discussing Mathematics is part of the larger discussion about Science. While religious discourse is, almost by definition, part of the philosophical discourse. In other words, and somehow clumsily put, Religion is part of Philosophy.

Religion is not "irrelevant" to the other topics; it's actually part of one of them.

This forum could have been called Science & Philosophy, and we'd be still covering the same subjects.

I think this question was answered in the 9th or 10th post after this forum was initially created.
