How do people feel about a minraise here? I know the word itself brings on OMG TERRIBLE...but I think a case can be made that a K may call a minraise enough for it to have more value than a shove.

It may not look like a bluff as much...but it'd be pretty hard to fold to the minraise

Our opponent can only really call with a king here as a bluffcatcher, and when we minraise we really can't rep a bluff. I mean, it still is gonna get looked up pretty often but not so much more than a shove that the frequency outweighs the lost value.

Fonkey, I was about to say that he could pretty easily have a set or AK or whatever that missed a turn check/raise, but looking at that river bet sizing you're ahead here very very often. Nice hand.

He doesn't fold any pair to a miniraise, so I don't hate it; but a shove is still only a 1/2 pot bet.

no read no shove. Vs unkowns this is like so bad. No way any reasonable player calls this with a K.

with the right conditions this is brilliant obv.

Ok, he called with KT and the money was shipped to me.

The reason I didn't bet the turn was so I could push a blank river like so.

The only thing betting the turn gains value from is flush draws, but repping the ace there is so profitable is gets them to fold mostly anything (which is why I'd probably DB a smaller flush draw there.)

Okay thanks guys <333333333333333333333

Oh, I think his 20 dollar river bet was the clincher in determining his relative hand strength making this, in my mind, a good value push Glad to see some people agree since I got torn a new one in my last hands thread.

All, I think if you're going to miniraise you might as well shove. TBH I think his calling frequency versus a shove is teh same as a miniraise, since it's only 35 more than a miniraise and it looks wayyyyyyyyy bluffier.

You think it's standard? I don't necessarily think it's standard, but far too many people in SSNL miss out on a ton of value in hands like these.
