Re: TPTK in position vs flush board
[ QUOTE ]
finally i should add that there is a big difference between a monotone ATx flop and a monotone A8x flop. make sure you see why. in the latter you can probably wait until the turn. [/ QUOTE ] OK, I'll take a stab at it: the ATx flop easily create a gutshot (i.e. KQ) and it's more likely that someone is playing a Ten than an Eight ("playing zone" and all that). I thought my river bet was for value, but this is a disgusting development. This seems like an odd line for villain but not a bluffing line. Call and hope it's only two pair? The pot is too big to even consider a fold, and a raise would be spew. Should I have checked behind in the 10 BB pot? My set of aces may be more than he bargained for. |

This is a bit off the topic, but LOL at 'this is a disgusting development'. I love poker situations described well.

Re: TPTK in position vs flush board
your river bet *was* for value. crying call is fine. you have trips, not a set.

Re: TPTK in position vs flush board
Yeah, I call the river as well.
[ QUOTE ] BTW, this hand isn't about "driving out" flush draws, although frequently you will in fact be able to fold out small clubs. The point of this hand is that people with big-ish clubs will pay off all flop and turn raises, so you want to get value for your hand. This is really a value-betting exercise, not a hand-protection exercise. [/ QUOTE ] 100% ! |

Re: TPTK in position vs flush board
It really looks like villain just hit his AQ hard. He may have had the Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], but there is no other good option except to call the river raise.

Re: TPTK in position vs flush board
Call, cry probably 70% of the time when he shows you a boat, be glad you didn't fold 25% of the time when he mucks two pair and a missed flush draw. Be really glad you didn't fold 5% of the time when he mucks 73o.
