Because there doesn't need to be.

Maybe when demand for the iPhone drops to that of the rest of the Mac line there will be one, but until then: No there doesn't.

we got one of these at work and I just played around with it for a while. edge is def much slower than wifi, but lighter sites like google really aren't that bad. rest of the phone is badass. current plan is to wait a month and see if any really bad problems emerge, and probably pick one up.

Sorry that got lost in the boxes. I don't think there "needs" to be one so much as Apple has always had a thing for the educational market so they can create converts early, so there probably will always be one.

It's probably more useful to say it "makes financial sense" for there to be one, rather than what is needed or not needed. Given current supply/demand I am not surprised Apple decided it didn't make financial sense to give educational discounts on the iphone.

cross the blackjack off your list, it is nowhere near the others (ive owned it and two blackberries). if money was no issue i would go for the iphone, but depending on what youre looking to spend i would probably say the pearl if i had to buy one today. unless you really want a bigger screen for some reason, the pearl is much cheaper and very sleek and reliable. i am a big apple fan but right now at $600 i think the right play is to wait for the 2nd gen, at least with my budget.

I have made a list of features the iPhone is lacking. Some of these are very simple features. Some issues will probably remain permanent. We will see with future firmware upgrades what apple decides to do. Here is my list.

- No copy/paste feature. Uh yeah, no bueno.
- Pictures you uploaded through iTunes, you cant move around or even delete. They are stuck in the album till you sync it back with iTunes
- Safari has a few bugs with certain webpages
- No file directory utility at all. It would be great to have a program to help
rename/move/organize files in your iPod
- Wireless interface could be improved
- No AIM client yet
- no video camera yet, imagine how much cooler it would be to take video, and then email it instantly.
- Needs to be more customizeable. Like changing main menu icons or choosing different fonts/color styles. The stocks, weather and calculator icons could rather be replaced with something else
- Where are the Widgets feature that all the regular MAC computers use?
- Cant save an image or basically anything from Safari web browser.
- Yahoo weather could have a lot more content. Radar maps would be great.
- I dont believe there is any way for two iPhones to connect to each other for any sharing abilities.

I think if they made improvements with Safari, more capability with the pictures and actually add a video feature, this product would be even better.
