Default 10/20 Hold\'em Live hand, did i play it THAT bad?

live 10/20 game. started out pretty tight, but the table is really loosening up now.

i am in MP w/ J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] i raise, cutoff calls, SB calls, BB calls.

flop: 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]10[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

sb checks, BB bets, i call, cutoff calls, SB calls.

turn 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
6BB
beautiful card, gives me a few more.

SB checks again, BB fires, i raise, cutoff folds, SB thinks and cold calls 2 bets, BB thinks and folds.

river K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] he bets, i raise, he 3-bets, I..?

results below in white.

<font color="white">i called and he showed A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] for broadway

I think you played this hand perfectly from start to finish.

if you raise the flop AND the turn... which I think resonable considering your preflop aggression / outs on flop /out on turn...

I think AJ folds the turn.

Call the final river bet. Lots of two pairs will get made on this board, if your 10/20 plays anything like the ones I see. IMO, the hand looks good.

i dont think this is a good flop to raise on to be honest. i think the club draw is the only card that gives me equity enough to put in a raise.

i also believed the BB would fold because he did not seem strong and had been making random donk bets on and off since the table came together.

but when the SB cold called two bets on the turn i became very worried about his holding.

theres no way he folds on the turn if he calls on the flop.

the guy called two bets cold on the turn, he was coming the whole way with his AJ.

Good point... I still raise the flop due to your pair + draw, and your preflop aggression.

Let's say blind is donk betting here with bottom pair and other blind has some type of gutshot... don't you think that a raise preflop AND a raise on the flop will normally put you in total control of this hand?

no, not really. all it does is boost the pot.

judging by the BB's fold for just one bet on the turn is probably him betting with some type of random Ace, or small pair.. since he was pretty clueless.

a raise on the flop is pretty dangerous in a hand like this with only bottom pair. and i am not about to raise in a 4-way pot with just an open ended, and not even open ended to the nuts.

but a club gives me the card i need to do a raise.

its all value betting, and i had more value in this hand with my double draw.

I don't like raising the flop here. (Hell, I don't like playing pre-flop here, but that's another story.) He's got a player behind him, the cards are in what I call the "playing range," (9 thru Q), he may be drawing to half the pot (or, as it turned out, none of it if the king hits), and I don't think that with the game loosening up, he's going to be able to buy control of this hand.

I find that I usually get my ass in the ringer when I raise with J-9 when the game has loosened up. I prefer to save those raises, if I use them at all, for those times when the game is tight and the blinds are tighter. At a loose table in MP, I'd dump it.

The river raise seems -EP to me. Everyone can see a straight draw got there.
