Re: A week\'s worth of things to do in vegas
With a group of people you can always take over the mechanical horse race "thing". The old carnival game thing where you bet on the horses on a tiny track. They used to be all over - but now I think the only one left is at MGM down by the poker room.
Off the strip - catch a band at "The Beach". Cool place - the netire lower floor is covered in sand and they usually have some good bands. Someone mentioned a tour of downtown. They have their nightly Freemont Street Experience. Some thoughts. |

Re: A week\'s worth of things to do in vegas
strip clubs include:
sherrys cabaret ++++ seamless +++ all others = ripoff sherry's is small, cheap, and they have at least a few hot chicks there all the time. seamless = $$$ i reccomend eating dinner at mizunos in the trop. very good stuff. the automatic machine gun thing is neat, but very $$$$. try walking from the wynn to monte carlo once. <wheezing> helicopter tour at night is cool. go to the stratoshpere, it's a must see view at the top. tons of small time shows. danny gans (if he doesnt cancel) seinfeld @ ceasars is good, and check out many others. paris has a superb buffet. |

Great sushi: Ra (across the street from Wynn, on the outside of that Fashion Mall. Awesome sushi happy hours, seriously. We stay at Wynn, almost just to be close to Ra, it seems.

Re: A week\'s worth of things to do in vegas
Modestly priced but high quality eats nearish the strip:
Mediterranean: Paymon's on Maryland. German: Cafe Heidelberg on East Sahara or Swiss Cafe on E Trop Mexican: Viva Mercado on W Flam or Lindo Michoacan on E Desert Inn Cuban: Florida Cafe on LVBlvd north of Sahara SushiBuffet: Makinos on W Flam Random: Bahama Breeze on E Flam (it's a chain, but I still like it) Cheap Steak: Ellis Island Historic Italian: Batista's Hole in the Wall (food ain't spectacular, but it's got "atmosphere") You can walk to Batista's, Ellis Island, Bahama Breeze and Cafe Heidelberg from strip hotels. The others I think I'd wanna cab or drive. (Technically you could probably walk to Florida Cafe from Sahara/Stratosphere, but I don't venture north of Stratosphere on foot without armed escorts.) |

Batista's was a hangout of the character played by Joe Pesci in the movie Casino. I agree that it has very good atmosphere with unremarkable food.

I thought Seamless sucked. That may be a function of the lack of talent though.

Re: A week\'s worth of things to do in vegas
As bav said: Ellis Island for cheap eats. They brew their own beer and root beer. They have an off the menu $5 steak and its on Koval, one Las Vegas block behind Bally's.
One block further off, on Paradise Rd. is a tapas restaurant called Firefly in the same mall as Ruth Chris'. This would be a great place for a group of 20's. Just keep ordering different tapa's and pitchers of really good (3 day "marinade") sangria. I was there last weekend with my wife and we wished to had a group of people so we could try everything. It's open to 3 am too if so your group gets a late night munchie attack, this spot is 5 min. from the strip. Ka is phenomenal - the stage cost $165 MILLION. But you would need to get your tickets BEFORE you go. The show is the same late night or matinee. Expensive, but, IMO worth it. |
