Re: The New BCS Picture
[ QUOTE ]
What has to happen for Notre Dame to play in the Rose Bowl? [/ QUOTE ] 1. Michigan not in NC game. Then Rose will select Michigan. Michigan in NC means USC in Rose, and Rose will not go for a late-season rematch USC/ND. 2. USC wins out and in NC game. Otherwise, USC plays in Rose and it is Michigan/USC. 3. That leaves Boise, Big East Champ, and two at-large choices available (ND will be 'available' unless they drop below 14 in the BCS polls) to the Rose, since they will get their picks before the other bowls. It then depends on who the Rose thinks will make them the most money. Boise, no chance. Louisville seems a better fit for the Orange. ND is attractive from the pure $$$ point of view, but a rematch with Michigan isn't that attractive. I can see them picking SEC runner-up or Oklahoma over ND. |

What has to happen for Notre Dame to play in the Rose Bowl? I say this because my wife's entire family went to ND and her sister lives in Pasadena, Calif., within earshot of the Rose Bowl. It would set up nicely for New Year's. [/ QUOTE ] you want to be around your in-laws when ND inevitably loses another BCS game by 21+ |

Re: The New BCS Picture
[ QUOTE ]
Oklahoma? Huh, how? [/ QUOTE ] 9 wins and a BCS ranking of #14 or better (currently #15 and a Rutgers loss to WVa and a LSU loss to Arkansas will move them up) makes them eligible for a BCS bowl. Eligible for an at-large berth, not an automatic bid. Then it comes down to money. |

Re: The New BCS Picture
So you got:
OSU-Big12 Champ USC-Pac-10 Michigan-At Large SEC Champ (Florida or Arkansas) SEC At Large (Florida or Arkansas or LSU?) Big 12 Champ (Texas) Big East Champ (WVU? or Rutgers or Louisville) ACC (GT or BC) Those are 8 of the 10. 2 Spots Open for: Auburn Boise State Oklahoma Wisconsin ND I'm going to bet ND gets in although they will probally lose to whoever they face. So 1 spot, I hope Wisconsin doesn't get in but I guess they'd be favored for the last spot right now. |

Re: The New BCS Picture
Wisconsin cannot get in by rule. Period. Neither can a third SEC team.

Re: The New BCS Picture
Why SEC at large? That is not an automatic.
And Boise will get an automatic berth if they finish #12 or better OR #16 or better and above the ACC champ. Wisconsin cannot, since max 2 from a conference. |
