Re: NFL Pro-bowl plan
On the surface I like this idea. It might be a little impractical to have the PB in Hawaii every year though, so perhaps have that game located in the same city as the SB a week later. This could be a huge event for a city, obviously, and be part of a week long celebration. (They might want to make the first one in Honolulu to help compensate them for the loss of the Pro-Bowl. Eh, whatever.)

Goodell should also switch the Super Bowl to Saturday night. Thoughts? [/ QUOTE ] Don't really see any reason for this. |

Re: NFL Pro-bowl plan
Incentives folks, doesn't making the game more competitive = significantly heightened injury risk?

Goodell should also switch the Super Bowl to Saturday night. Thoughts? [/ QUOTE ] As a fan I like it. But it hurts the NFL's bottom line as Saturday presents a greater array of entertainment alternatives. The Super Bowl's coin comes largely from the "non-hardcore NFL fan" audience. |

Not sure if it's changed, but I believe winning players get $30k and losers get $15k.

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Anything is better than what they have now. How about monetary compensation/prize for the winning team? [/ QUOTE ]I believe winning team does get paid more. [/ QUOTE ] I'm sure it needs to be more considering most the starters are already getting paid bank. [/ QUOTE ] Think a little bit harder about that for a second. I'm not sure what sort of revenue the pro bowl brings in, but to pay each player an amount that would be "meaningful" would cost... $30mil? |

Re: NFL Pro-bowl plan
Nobody gives a [censored] about All-Star games.
People go for the experience more than they do the game. None of them care who actually win. They want to see an entertaining, high scoring game. I see no reason to change the date. |

[/ QUOTE ] Yeah, but don't you think that the Super Bowl would trump most of those entertainment options? For one Saturday night? Also, I think that the suggestion is more related to having the Sunday after to recover from the Super Bowl parties. No recovery time when the game is on Sunday. If the game is going to be two weeks after the championship games, there's really few reasons that the Super Bowl couldn't be on Saturday night. |
