Re: Why would Bud Selig watch Bonds?
[ QUOTE ]
Are they still going on about Aaron being there? Trying to put that to rest w/ his interview at the all-star game was one of the classier things I've ever seen Bonds do. [/ QUOTE ] They are still saying Aaron won't be there because of steroids. Even though I have seen interviews of Aaron saying he won't be there because it's Bond's day in the sun not his. Which could be a lie for all I know but ESPN is making it seem like Aaron has publicly passed judgment on Bonds. I missed the All Star interview, cliff notes? |

Re: Why would Bud Selig watch Bonds?
Because it's the biggest event that has occurred during his reign as commissioner.

Re: Why would Bud Selig watch Bonds?
He just said something along the lines of "Aaron has a life and it wouldn't be fair to expect him to follow us around for as long as it takes to break the record."
/edit When asked about Selig he said something like "I don't know what the commissioner does, its up to him to decide whether or not he should be there." which I thought was pretty funny. |

Re: Why would Bud Selig watch Bonds?
Is this really that big of an event?
I'm a decent baseball fan, but just really cannot get into this at all. I usually turn off things when Bonds is on the tube. It seems like more of a sideshow than anything. |

Re: Why would Bud Selig watch Bonds?
While the Bonds/'roids aspect of it has turned it into a bit of a side show and some fans feel a bit jaded about the whole thing, it's still the most revered record in sports.

Re: Why would Bud Selig watch Bonds?
Bud should be there. He's 1/2 the reason the players are taking steroids. He didn't do his job 10 years ago, and now we are facing the results of that. If you are willing to open a can of worms, you should be willing it eat it.

Re: Why would Bud Selig watch Bonds?
Oh the commish, look at him get all high and mighty now. Maybe if he had addressed this issue 9 years ago instead of sucking McGwire's [censored] he would have some ground to stand on. Now he just looks pathetic.
I don't consider myself a Selig basher though, he has done a lot to help baseball make a turn around. Some of his ideas have been great, some not so much. But Baseball has gotten better under him. If he doesn't show up, it would be a slap in the face of the game he loves. It would be a bigger slap in the face of the fans and of Bonds. |
