Re: Looking for a beach trip, no passport
I'm pretty easy, I guess, if it's got a palm tree on it, it's tropical enough for me, although a good part of the northern Gulf of Mexico is technically speaking only the subtropics. I wouldn't write it off too soon if it's real important that the trip be low budget. But there are some reasonably priced beaches in PR once you get away from San Juan. And it's often easy to get a very low priced airfare there. So there's that. But even with today's obscene gas prices, there can be an edge with driving somewhere, because you don't have to get a rental car. What to do, what to do.

Re: Looking for a beach trip, no passport
PR is awesome...ive been there 10 times. if u want seclusion check out the east side of the island... the 'el conquistador' has its own private island, but it can be a dead place at night if youre alone. for something not as extravagant and with a bit more socializing try the wyndham rio mar. both have casinos.
