I love all these teams that would/could've beaten the Bulls title teams yet none of them except the Pacers in the final year even pushed them even to 7 games. Hard to win 4 if you can't win 3.

This is tricky. I don't expect you to agree, but much like the Celtics in the late 50s/60s their streaks were largely helped by luck or variance.

1991: I still think the Lakers squandered that series, and the James Worthy injury didn't help. The Bulls WERE better, and their toughening at the hands of the Pistons helped, but I was surprised that the Lakers pedigree didn't pull this one out.

1992: Bulls were better.

1993: well, you know. I think the Suns were better but not by much.

1996: the Bulls were possibly the best team in NBA history, and kudos to the Sonics for forcing them to go six, although the Sonics were exceptional that year as well.

1997: Bulls were better.

1998: I believe the Jazz were "better" but I mean seriously, this finals wasn't much different than being the Bills against the Cowboys after they'd already gotten raped in the previous Super Bowls. I think the fact that the Bulls knew it was their last hurrah and they were all so goddamned tired of Krause didn't help Utah either.

96-97 Utah Jazz?

64 wins, +8.8, obviously not the best team in the league, but y'know, MJ happens.

[/ QUOTE ]
The Bulls won 69 games and had a +10.8 PD. Would have loved for SOMEONE to beat the Bulls in the finals though, don't care who.

I'd probably vote for the 97 Jazz. One of the 80s Celtics teams that lost to the Lakers could make a compelling case. '85 Cs had 63 wins and almost a +7 PD.

edit: Oh OK I missed the first sentence of your post about teams who SHOULD have one.

Speaking of the 1985 Finals, sweet NBA on CBS intro. Watch at least the first ninety seconds:
