Default P5\'s donk thread.

iin his new cardplayer interview, SCTrojans spoke of his last month's results as follows [ QUOTE ]
SF: They weren’t nearly as good as they have been these past two months, but I still did fairly well. I don’t know why, but my final table statistics were terrible, I couldn’t win a tournament to save my life. I just couldn’t close anything. I had like 36 final tables with four wins. Or maybe 41 final tables with four wins, something like that. But last month, I won half of the final tables that I got to.I don’t know if that was influenced by the number of tournaments I was playing in, or what have you, but this last month was definitely better.

[/ QUOTE ]My question: Could a player who wins this much really not understand the huge ammount of variance in a SNG format? Even though they are more deeply stacked than tournament, a long-term ROI in any STT greater than 20% is pretty unlikely.

After reading this and seeing stuff lilholdem said a while ago i kind of want to just play the lottery.

SCtrojans is really good and understands variance just fine. He's just saying how he would make it to the final tables and not be able to close despite not noticing anything difference in his play

Obviously 50% wins at FT's isn't sustainable.

But it's not exactly a SNG, people come in with chip leads. If you assume that he comes to the final table with big stacks more often (which I'm sure he does), than he should win more often than a normal SNG pro should win at STT's.

This is a perfect example of not understanding varience. What you said makes no sense.
