why would you call the turn? you're not getting pot odds and your implied odds suck on a paired board and where you will have four hearts on the board. and your pair of nines are worth doodoo of course

I would have bet the flop.

But if the A on the turn didn't kill your hand (pr of 9s), then the 3rd heart on the turn &amp; additional overcard on 5th should have.

Bottom line...bet flop to charge possible FD. fold to turn bet because you are most likely crushed.

I don't mind a flop check. This is a 5way limped pot. Not all that much good is going to come out of betting it. It's not horrible, but I personally prefer a check because I'd like to see a reasonably small final pot size.

Checking and seeing what develops is fine, I think. Our hand actually improves (debatable) a little on the turn. We can donk a modest amount and comfortably fold to any raise. It's better than c/c anyway. Cheaper, and there a few better hands and lots of ties that actually fold. Re-examine river if called.
