Default Tough spot with middle set on board turned real ugly

Tourney is a 200$ buyin with 45 min blinds and 15k starting stacks with 50/50 as starting blinds.

It gets folded to highjack who makes it 200 with aroudn 17k behind, i make the call from sb with 99 and 14.5k behind, bb also calls.

Flop opens 10 9 6 (2x diamonds)I check, bb bets 350, highjack calls, i reraise to 1200, bb for some reason looks back at his cards but only uses one hand to do so and I happen to see he has J7 with the jack being the jack of diamonds, highjack calls.

Turn is an 8, and I end up thinkign for 30 seconds about what my next action should be, and I opt to play it safe and check, highjack bets 3k, i call thinkign i have the best hand tons here and can still boat up on river.

River is a queen, i check, he bets 5k, I call.

Im looking for advice on pretty much every street, not just river, since i think on turn i have multiple good options.

i think i play it similarly except raise larger on the flop and c/f the river...

the turn is the most interesting street imo. if we bet, for instance, 2500 on the turn, and he crams or even just makes a large raise, we're in a super sick spot. otoh, you definitely stand to make money from a lot of draws on the turn, so betting is attractive. i dunno though, maybe you can b/f under the assumption that he's never raising something like two pair here, and typically live players (assuming no other reads) arent the type to cram draws on the turn, even if he picked up some sort of combo draw.

so maybe b/f turn (assuming a big raise) instead? i just think checking is likely missing a lot of value from a lot of hands that could be drawing on this board, particularly after that turn, not to mention his range doesnt have a ton of 7s in it, although obviously QJ is possible as is 7xdd.

I just bet the turn, b/c there's too many cards both of us hate on the river.

Ok I see that most people like a turn bet, but as played, river is a fold? When he bets the pot on turn (3k) I have hard time imagining him having QJ at this point and J8 seems unlikely given he opened preflop from mid position. Just felt qj and j8 were the only logical jacks that make it to river. Any1 ever just think hes on busted flush draw and call this river, cause me and my friend were having a big debate on whether the call on river was any good.

busted flush draws can have jacks and sevens too, and they can also have other cards that end up with showdown value (Txdd, Qxdd) that would just check behind.
