Default 1/2 deep: top set turn scare card in a big pot

1/2 500 dollar effective stacks, 4 handed. I havent played with villain much, but she hasnt gotten out of line as far as I can recall/

I limp JJ96 UTG, SB raises to 4, BB raises to 14, We both call.

Flop (50): J 8 5 two diamonds I have none:
SB checks, BB bets 50, I raise to 200, SB folds, BB calls.

Turn A off suit (450) She pushes for close to 300, I call.

You'd need a pretty strong read that BB doesn't 3-bet wide to fold this. This could easily be some kind of draw that picked up two pair when the A hit or a lower set that was waiting for a safe turn to push.

Well to me it looks like Aces but it's hard to fold it ofcourse. This looks like typical play where she hits it on the turn and cannot resist to bet on a drawy board rather than c/r even though you are representing a set on the flop. It would be a good fold on the turn by your part imo. But not a disaster anyway to play it to the end i guess.

This isn't a snap-call for me at all, and I wouldn't consider myself a nit.

You can put 88 in their range, but I see most people pushing this flop with it because for them to raise preflop they would likely have straight blockers making them less afraid of uber wrap+FD hands. Also because if they did have 88 they probably shove because it's not something you would expect them to have a lot of the time.

They could have some sort of wrap + FD themselves and are using the Ace to semi-bluff at the pot knowing that they might have some fold equity to go along with their big draw.

With all that being said, this is still probably still a call because there might just be enough hands in their range to give you the odds you need to make this call (2.5-1).

It's a pretty sick spot and we are drawing to 1-out when we are wrong and are probably no more than 70/30 when we are right (Im' discounted 88 quite a bit here). I doubt I'd talk myself into a fold, but I don't think I'd overly criticize anyone for doing it.

we have an extra few gutshot outs too, if he has AA. Yes it looks like AA, but without a better read there are more than enough combos of draws that just hit a pair or 2 pair.

True, but this bet with a hand like that would be what I'd consider "out of line" and very out of line for the person described by OP. They can't really expect to have hardly any fold equity given the strength we've already shown. They'd have to put us on exactly a set to think they can fold us out (if our draw was big enough on the flop to play for stacks it's surely worth still playing for stacks given the odds we're getting).

I feel like we're pretty s.o.l. here.

I also felt that I was S.O.L here, and I really expected to be shown aces but couldnt make the fold. I felt pretty sick calling. He actually had KKxx with a flopped flush draw. He missed and I scooped a big one.
