Who's More Famous?

My younger cousin (17 year old male) and my mother (53 year old woman) were arguing this earlier today, and I wanted to see what OOT thought.

Note: My cousin is white suburban kid, my mom is white, I'm mixed.

I don't know how the discussion started, but my cousin believes that the rapper 50 Cent is a more known figure than Oprah Winfrey. Not that more people know what he looks like, not that more people like him, but more people WORLDWIDE know the name 50 Cent than they do Oprah Winfrey.

Originally I thought he was an idiot, and I chose Oprah, but the more I think about it the more I wanna lean towards 50 Cent. In many countries they don't have television, but I'm sure they get music. If they do get television, there's probably a female talk show host equivilant to Oprah.

I'm sure my cousin doesn't own more than 5 rap CD's, and he's definately more booksmart than me, unfortunately most of OOT is as well.

So... please vote, and say why you voted for whom.

I guess I can't really say anything about places I've never been, but this still really isn't even close. Oprah wins hands down. She's been around much longer which by itself is enough to make her more known around the world.

A better one would be Bo Schembechler vs. Milton Friedman. Bo got far more news headlines here, but maybe the Nobel Prize winner was more famous globally?
