Default 1/2NL Live Deep Stacks Hero has control till villain bets river

1/2 NL, Hero has $450, villain has over $600.

EP limps, MP limps, and Hero is in LP with A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] and raises to $15.

Both call, $45 in pot.

Flop is A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] King[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

EP checks, MP bets $35, I raise to $90. (Pot $170) EP Folds.
MP thinks a little, keeps shuffling chips and looks at me. He calls the $55. (Pot $225)

He continues to look at me.

Turn is A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] and he looks at me. He waits a little and says "check."

At this point I am trying to narrow down what he has. I figured Ax and x was a [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. My plan was to either check the turn and decide to call the river depending on the bet OR bet the turn because of the draw to the flush and check the river (thinking he has AQo) but fold to a river [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] if he bets and its too large to call.

Was this a reasonable plan?

I decide to bet due to the [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] draw and make it $80, he calls. Pot is $385 now.

River is 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] and he instantly bets $135. Pot is $520.

Hero should???

Trash me - thanks.

This is tough ....

I think I'd call ... He looked at you - what did u do ? I think with the limp call this is 55 or hearts...78h/89h ... I don't think AQ limps pf...

AK/KK don't make sense and neither does the river bet of 1/3rd of the pot...I think he wants a call... Maybe he has low hearts that want a showdown...

I think the flop raise is not big enough.... and personally don't like it....with that flop and your hand having no redraws really....apart from runner runner boat... I think that you should be keeping the pot small...

I don't get it? This seems like a completely ABC call. You're getting 4:1 on the river and made a goofy bet on the turn that at least occasionally induces some action on the river if you're villain can think. If he can't think then you're obviously good for at least 4:1 on the river. And you're rarely getting called by worse, without a read, if you raise the river. So only option is call.

I looked at him back kept shuffling my chips, looked at the board, then looked back at him and watched his hand shuffle ships. Was waiting for him to make his decision.

You said you dont like the flop raise because it is not big enough, but think the pot small should be kept small. If I raised it bigger the pot becomes bigger. Think I am missing something here.

To Dire: the turn bet I wanted to be a slight probe to value bet figuring I could fold to a huge check raise. What should the bet have been? Everyone loves to check raise at this casino with a strong hand. When he did not check raise and then bet into me it threw me off. Is this the wrong line of thinking?

Why would you ever consider anything other than calling in this spot?

Because, what possible hand do you think I could beat here other than a river bluff?

Btw, I did call. I am curious about my flop raise and turn bet.

10/20 limit player here.

So the flop raise is a limit instinct then?

Why do I not raise this flop - it keeps the pot small like Vava indicated??
