In my car, parked on a dark street, having just finished dropping off my gf after seeing Blair Witch Project.

when i went to uzbekistan, like a month before iraq started, it was one of the highest military threats in the. When i got of the plane there was a helicopter floating above the runways with a huge [censored] machine gun waiting for the wrong people to approach us.
We were supposed to cup are smokes so they couldnt see the ember, they wanted us using a diffrent kind of flashlight, so it supposedly couldnt be seen fro far away. and i live in a canvas tent on a cement slab, with a [censored] heater for 6 months in the mountian of uzebekistan.
when they first buuilt the place they killed almost all the smakes, so it got over ran with ras and mice, by the time i was leaving the snakes were reappearing and hunting them again. Never saw one in my tent...but im sure they were at some point.
it was an old russian nuclear base, and its in my record that i was exposed to depleated urianium.
I worked in the command post, so i had a pretty important job, so any high ranking person there i saw on a daily basis, so i got a chance to explore the bomb bunkers, and old soviet stuff...pretty cool now....kinda creepy then

Back when I was a kid when I would go to LA, I would visit my buddy who lived around crenshaw. Yeah, in hindsight it was not as bad, but as a kid I was scared like a mofo. We'd walk to and from my Grand parent's house, about a mile or two, but he lived kind of on the edge of the "danger zone". None the less, this place was a zoo.

Full of pp looking to kill each other just b/c of "turf", and bull [censored].

Ppl kind of like this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EQdRoKd1cRw

Usually we'd have to hide our stuff when we went to his house a few blocks away, mainly b/c it was bout a 75% chance that some kids more or less our age would come up to us and jack us, so we'd have to go barefoot. Not like there were 25 year old gang bangers coming up to us mostly just the teenagers who who were looking for things to take.

I felt like a journalist in Vietnam.

Side note, one time, maybe around Jefferson and and cren, or maybe adams and cren, I saw some dude with his neck tied to a rope, and a guy was walking him, like a dog. Yeah, that was interesting. It was weird b/c it was on a big street. Like not some small place in the cuts, but like on a a big 4 or 6 lane street.

Doing my residency I rode with Chicago Fire on ambulance 11 ( I think ) that covered the Cabrini Projects. +/- Scary - but easily the most depressing, sad place I've ever been.
