It really surprises me when I hear people hate on Seinfeld. I can understand if it is not your cup of tea, but it is hard to not recognize how revolutionary it was. The concept of fusing unrelated and common day, yet hilarious, story lines into a single climax had hardly ever been seen. The writing was remarkable throughout the vast majority of the seasons.

Though I believe AD is the best sitcom of all time, it clearly would never have happened without Seinfeld.

...fwiw
1. AD
2. Seinfeld
3. UK Office
4. Cheers
5. MASH
6. US Office (assuming level of excellency is maintained)
1647. Friends (fans should not vote, breed or be protected by the freedoms guaranteed in the Bill of Rights)

Also, I agree with using Seinfeld knowledge as a barometer of character and personality.

It's pronounced "thermometer."

Get over yourself/seinfeld. The show is over and so are its references. It was cool 2 years ago maybe, but is a waste of life/your time now. Find a new hobby.

[/ QUOTE ]

How are the references over? The same [censored] happens today as it happened 20 years ago even. I can't tell you how many times I'm with friends and we're in a situation and say, "wow, this is just like that Seinfeld episode..."

That's why Seinfeld was/is/will be succesful.

I'm glad I am not your friend so I don't have to vomit everytime one of you says, "omg, that was just like that one episode where..........."

Whoever said referencing Seinfeld stopped being cool 2 years ago, I really think it was more like 5-7. Right afterthe whole shrinkage thing and "no soup for you" was overkilled.

No self-respecting Seinfeld fan has laughed at a Soup Nazi joke in years. I typically wince.

Referencing played out stuff like soup nazi or shrinkage probably stopped being cool. But referencing awesome, less well-known stuff like barometer/thermometer, capricious and arbitrary, or weed in Hitler's bunker = still very funny.

What am I, a bulimic, chain-smoking stenographer from Staten Island?

can't wait for season 9 to come out. I've seen every episode from season 1-8 but there are some from 9 that I haven't watched.

You guys remember the "puerto rican day parade" that was pulled from tv after airing?
I'm only 20 so my recollection of the early years is a little fuzzy. I just d/l it and i dont see why it was pulled.
