Default On The Lot

If there was ever a show aimed at this crowd, I figure that this is it. I'm wondering which of the contestants here is Pryor.

If the show is popular here, we need a place to talk about it. I figure there's a higher percentage of filmies or aspiring writers/directors in this forum than anywhere else on this site, so here we go.

I haven't many comments on the show yet, but if this starts to take off I'll definitely be back.

Apparently the format is that 5 or so directors a week show a short film that they created since the last show. Judges include Carrie Fisher and Wes Craven. You can vote the same way as for American Idol. This appears to be the second week of the show.

I've seen one film thus far ("The Glass Eye") and it was pretty neat.

There was that Australian show a few years back "Race Around The World" I think, amateur film makers travel around the world making mini documentaries every week.
Similar idea but as far as I am aware the only guy that achieved any fame afterwards was some annoying Jewish guy who got his own show for 1 season

Oh and anything with Craven is going to be awesome

OK, so the films I caught were all pretty bad, aside from that "Glass Eye" one. The actors they acquire seem to be terrible, and the one chick seems to be way off base as far as what makes a good film. A "horror" film from the perspective of a tree getting sawed apart is stupid without personification. Rashomon it was not.

Great things could come of this, and I think that all of them have some sort of talent. They'll figure out their talents soon enough.

I agreed with the judges that Sunshine Girl was the best.

As best as I can tell, the actors are all talent that they know, or are able to quickly find.

The horror film was terrible and I'm assuming that she's the one getting cut.

As for them all having talent, I believe they have all created shorts prior to being on the show.

Oh ok. I missed Sunshine Girl, so that was out of the running for me. Did you think that #2 was the eye one?

the best so far of the "quickie" shorts was the musical. Just the fact the dude even attempted it is amazing.

Most of the shorts have been pretty awful but to be fair we'll have to wait and see how some of the contestants do with a real crew/actors etc in the coming weeks. Some simply have "directing" talent but are devoid of any real story telling skills.
