Default Casino Aztar

I just moved near this casino. I'm am interested in checking out the poker room. I called and they said they spread 2/4, 5/10, and 10-20-30 holdem. Does anyone have any info on this place before I drive 2 hrs to get there?? It is the closest place I can find for poker.

I think it is a terrible place to play but I go there because they have the only O/8 that is spread on a regular basis.

where do you live?

I can only speak of the one in Caruthersville Mo.
It sucks.
Mostly just a bunch of mops hanging around playing 4-8 limit during the week.
Oh it's smoking also.
They do spread a 1-2 and maybe 2-5 on the weekend.

I've heard rumors of 10-20 being spread but have never witnessed it.
Drive to tunica or better yet st. Louis for some really good games.

I've talked enough.
You probably meant Evansville anyway---never been.

I've been to both Aztars.

The larger one is in Evansville. I played there last weekend. They were spreading 2/4, 5/10, and 10/20/30 limit holdem, 2/5 NLHE, and 1-5 stud. Omaha8 and a big PLO game are sometimes spread on certain weekdays. I think 1/2 NL goes on weeknights as well. They have tourneys 3x a week. I played the one on Sunday afternoon. It was a $85+15 freezeout with a craptacular structure. It had 60 players, top six paid, and I got 5th for about $400. 1st was about $2K.

Evansville's poker room is non-smoking now (a recent change). Comps are hard to get. You have to beg to get a meal ticket for the sucky deli. Apparently the boat has new ownership that the employees seem to hate. Steamboatin seems to hate this place; I haven't been to the other boats in Southern Indiana. I will say I think Aztar Evansville is a better poker room than the Harrah's boat in Metropolis, Illinois (the casino closest to my home).

Casino Aztar in Caruthersville, Missouri is weird and scary. It's the lowest rent white-trashiest riverboat I've ever been on. It's pretty much as described. The room is upstairs and seperated from the rest of the casino. Usually they only have 1-3 tables going. Usually some low-limit holdem is being spread (3/6 or 4/8). A NL game (usually 1/2) will go on weekend nights. I have seen the 10/20 limit holdem go, but this is not usual. The room is smoking. Be warned, there is apparently not a decent place to eat in the entire sad little town of Caruthersville.

Hate is to strong of a word. I think I have just been spoiled. If you haven'y played at Tunica or other places that actually like poker players, you would think it is just fine.

Don't ask for a comp at Evansville, it shows you are new and therefore a second class citzen. When you get on the list, just lay your comp card down near the others on the left of the podium. They will put a comp coupon underneath your card.

I play at Aztar (Evansville) two to three times a week. They have begun a daily 3-6 limit game. Also 5-10 and 10-20 on weekends. They finally got rid of the 10-20-30. No limit is 1/2 on the weekdays and 2/5 on the weekends. There are a lot of regulars there (that are there more than me) but they are generally bad poker players. Weekends (Fr and Sat..not Sun) can be pretty good.

Its definitely not the best place to play in the world but it works ok for me. I just live and work a few minutes from the casino.

Went to Ceasars IN for the first time though recently and have to say it was a lot better than Aztar

OP..if you are new to the area, pm me for info or to talk.

Cmon whats not to love about Aztar Mo....

Purple felt, .50 chips, free parking, long walk from the entrance to the boat OUTSIDE (summer not bad, winter is a pain. Mandatory registration for a players card to get on board. Hot dogs that look like they've been out for weeks.

The 60's style players lounge with the walmart couches. Everybody should do Aztar once....

Yea I busted you up serval times at Aztar and youve got me on serval big scoopers yourself. Then you went to Jake and complained that I was doing something wrong. I forgot what it was, its been years since Ive been there. Is that older Asian lady still there, you know who Im talking about? Tall usually well dressed.

And the comps suck....its a green ticket good for a hot dog or sandwich and a bag of chips! And what hsppen to the 10-20-30 game? As far as I remember that was a pretty good game????
