About JoN, I think the games he's played he's been hurt, or at least just not himself. Looks sluggish, anguished, and ished. (needed a 3rd adjective and couldnt think of one...)

[/ QUOTE ]

I think "ished" is just about right for JO.

I actually kinda like some of their players. If they had a true Alpha Dog and a non-[censored] PG situation (Daniels is a decent player, but PG he is not. And we've dealt with Tinsley...) they'd be solid. In a way, just like the Hawks, but not nearly as much fun...

Bobbo,

I sort of agree with Vyse here. Tinsley is playing a lot like his usual sucky self. It's the completely unexpected performance of Dunleavy (and to a lesser extent Marquis Daniels) that's made this team average. If Dunleavy just needed a change of scenery and he keeps playing close to this level, this team will stay in the playoff hunt. I have my doubts but at least it's fun to get excited about this team that I thought would win 25 games.

Also, Jeff Foster is a quality NBA player. He's been in the Top 10 in rebound rate the last five years in a row and he's a very solid defender too.

yeah, considering how happy I am with the Scot Pollard pickup, I'd be creaming my jeans if Foster was a Celtic.

Could a stud high schooler opt to do his year hiatus in a tough European league rather than waltz through a year in college?

I feel like this would be much better preparation both on and off the court.

Huge downside is obv national exposure from domination in ncaa tournament they would be lacking, but I'm kinda suprised that no one has done this or talked about it.

I don't think it's a better/great idea, or that it should become the status quo, just wondering if it's been done/talked about.

Man, Dwight Howard is a beast and most fans don't even realize it yet. He's only 21 years old and is averaging 24/15 with ~3 blks.

What's this kid's ceiling? Can't remember the last time I saw someone his size with such remarkable agility. Once his offensive game is more refined it's very possible he'll have some 30/15 seasons.

Maybe if the NBA goes back to averaging 110 points per game.

People said the same thing about LBJ someday averaging a triple double, but come on, let's be realistic. Both are great players as is.

Vyse,

Lower scoring generally = more rebounds. I wouldn't be surprised if league leaders in the 80s/early 90s were around 11 RPG, then when FG% dropped rebounding freaks like Rodman and Kevin Willis came out of the woodwork. Thus I think 30/15 is doable by anyone talented enough in today's league.

tuq,

you're sorta making crap up. While FG% is a factor, generally scoring is a factor of pace. The lower the pace, the lower # of shots, thus lower scoring and lower rebound possibilities.

I mean.. look at the 60s. They were scoring like 115 and grabbing 55 boards a game.

There has to be a nicer way to say that.

OK, busted. I almost looked it up prior to posting and if I did I wouldn't have made my post. I was under the general assumption that lower scoring was at least partially the byproduct of lower FG% and wouldn't be totally offset by a slower pace. I stand corrected.
