One thing for sure, we used to be very bad, especially during the last war, when it comes to treating many of the non-Japanese people.

For example, just off the top of my head, wouldn't you think it strange that if your grandparents were born in USA, and your parents were born in USA & you were born in USA that you wouldn't automatically qualify for US citizenship? That you couldn't vote in US?

It's true that Japan isn't trying to have more non-Japanese living in Japan with a citizenship. Japan always had few foreigners in the country. Never really got invaded (except Okinawa.)
