What's your take on the Burakumin and Japanese racism? Is it still a big problem?

[/ QUOTE ]

Nowadays it`s difficult to tell who are burakumin. The older people still know where those places are (the neighborhoods where the burakumin lived).

Japanese people in general aren't racist, IMO.

[/ QUOTE ]

Not true. Japanese people really care where people where people are from. they like white people. don:t like black people. Japanese people used to think Koreans and Chinese were inferior. \but now not so much.

In your opinion, how do Japanese people think of Okinawans?

[/ QUOTE ]

In general, Japanese people do not look down on Okinawans, even though they are not true Japanese and speak a different language. when I went to Okinawa the people were very kind hearted and appeared much happier than people who live in Tokyo. their origins, culture, food and language are very unique.

my gf says for you white guys to go to roppongi if you want to find japanese girls who want to date white guys. although the tourist guides will tell you the same thing.

Upon further questioning, just about any place is ok.

That they're uncivilized and stupid and should be a part of China or at least not Japan

[/ QUOTE ]

this is insane. anyone who says this knows nothing about Japan or Japanese culture. we would never think that Okinawa is not part of japan. Okinawan culture is becoming more and more popular in Japan.
