And American Beauty bugged the crap out of me for the same reason. I bet anything they wanted Tobey Maguire for that role.

The guy in the AB role was a final contender for Spiderman. I still think he would have made a better Peter Parker.

"Running Scared". This could be popular, but before I watched it on some movie channel at a hotel a few months ago I had never heard of it. It was one of the coolest movies I've ever seen.

If it's the Billy Crystal/Gregory Hines version, I agree. I loved that movie.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think it's the Paul Walker version, which is good and really unpredictable.

Seems like I always recommend the same movies in these threads. I just added about 200 movies to my netflix queue though so hopefully I'll eventually have some new ones.

Blow up
The Conversation
Spoorloos (The Vanishing original version)
The Ox
Pathfinder (Original)
The Conformist
Playing By Heart
In the Company of Men
Bully

Life of David Gale was badly written and horribly acted.

[/ QUOTE ]

How so? What would you have changed?

[/ QUOTE ]

i would assume he'd change the writing and the acting.

I thought XX/XY with Mark Ruffalo was very good. Reminded me a lot of situations that came up in college. This guy was great in You Can Count On Me, another great movie.

Blow Up was one of my favorite movies.
Probably would be too weird and thus not very appreciated by much of the younger OOT crowd I suspect.
But any movie that semi-randomly ends with mimes playing tennis gets a big thumbs-up from me.

An especially appropriate nomination since director Michalangelo Antonioni passed away a couple days ago at the age of 96.
