Default What\'s your poker/golf personal over/under?

I've told people this repeatedly so I think it is probably true:

I would rather break 80 than win $10,000 playing poker. My best 18 hole score was last year where I shot an 82 on my home course. (Hcp 17.7)

Definitely would rather break 80. Both would involve a great deal of luck, and in the case of the 10K, it might even be unpleasant.

My personal best round was a 77 on my par 72 home course. I normally shoot mid 80's, so I'd put my handicap around 13-14. Having broken 80, and not won 10k, here are my thoughts:

I would have to say it depends on how the 10k is won. Grinding out 10k over some time...meh. I'd take the breaking 80. If the 10k was from winning a poker tourney, I would choose that over breaking 80.

assuming it is strictly one or the other, id rather do poker cause i plan to play poker for a long time so playing mid stakes and never making 10k would kid suck. if its 10k in a day...still go with the 10k

I play golf for fun and it gets me outdoors walking around. Having broken 80 numerous times it's really not that big of a deal. Besides, it' golf - as soon as you shoot 79 you'll start thinking about shooting par. It never ends. Send me the money.

I'll take the 10K, then use some of it on some good golf lessons that will help me break 80.

That's funny, because that's exactly how I feel about money. Once you have 10k, then you want 20k, etc.

And I didn't mean for this thread to be just 80 vs $10k..but what it is for each individual.

Right now I would take $10k over shooting 80, but 79 over $10. When I broke 90, the numbers would have been different.

Shouldn't this be $10k or breaking 80 regularly?

Breaking 80 once is exciting, but $10k is a lot of money.

Breaking 80 regularly means you aren't breaking par, which is what you'll want if you're breaking 80. Take the 10k and have fun w/ whatever milestone you're trying to break, because you'll always have one.
