is that 2 penalties in the first 10 mins or one penalty at 5mins and just a normal goal at 10mins??

The first generation of American kids who grew up playing is just now reaching maturity (until recently, large parts of the country didn't play). USA already has a pretty good team, within 10 years it will be one of the best.

I think in general that throwing a ball to a reciever through two defenders 20 yards away (who is either going to turn around and take the catch, or keep running onto the catch, and you have to trust him to be where you throw it) where if you miss by 2 feet, you've cost your team a huge swing is much harder than swerving a freekick into the top corner of the net.

Neither is easy, but the team skill required to set up even the simplest of decent plays in the NFL is much much higher than anything you see in soccer.

True. That's probably also why there's so much more scoring in soccer than in football.
