Re: To value shove or not... FH on river
He could be value raising a flush as it's almost impossible for you to have a boat/quads. You'd have had to caught a 2 outer with 99 or a one outer with 77 to have a flush beat. I don't know why he would play a flush that way but it is possible. With an aggression factor of 3 I would expect him to be betting both a flush and AAA/KKK on the flop so nothing about this river raise makes sense. You effectively have the 3rd nuts, I would rather push than call. You beat A7 anyway, and really that hand is one of the few combos that makes sense considering how he played up to the river, except that 22/14's generally aren't raising A7 UTG but who knows.

Sleep is your friend. Hopefully you don't dream of poker like I do.

Re: To value shove or not... FH on river
No, I think this is a good thread. I am very surprised this player had A8o here with him having the stats of a solid player. I think shoving the river is bad against a player who is 25/x/x or less here because this type of player will be aware that you may well have a full house and therefore their raise very often is with a hand that beats you imo.
OK just to add that if villain has a set on the flop, checking is a strange play vs 3 flush, but I don't think you can assume for sure he doesn't have a set. |
