[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] I'll be watching Dancing with the Stars with you but I gotta say I'm not too excited about the new celebs at the moment. I hate change . [/ QUOTE ] Jennie Garth aged remarkably well. I saw her on Celebrity Poker, not knowing who she was and I thought she looked fantastic. With Josie Moran also on the show, looks like they're trying to up the "hot women" quota. Mark Cuban, I could do without. I haven't regularly watched since season 2, so maybe I'll check it out this season. [/ QUOTE ] The strange thing is that the hot girls tend not to do so well. [/ QUOTE ] You forget Stacy Keibler making it to the final 3 in season 2 and getting 4 perfect scores along the way. And former Playboy model Kelly Monaco making the final 2 in season 1. |

Re: TV in the Lounge, Fall 07 Edition
You're right that I forgot Stacy. I didn't see the first season, so I don't know how hot Kelly Monaco is or how good a dancer she was. The thing is, in this past season, the models went out first, but they weren't the worst dancers. BRC, Clyde Drexler, and maybe some other guys were worse than them, but they couldn't pull votes. The women who are really good naturally do well, but the mediocre women seem to get axed quickly, even over some of the worse guys, no matter how hot they are.

Re: TV in the Lounge, Fall 07 Edition
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] MrWookie, The premise for Pushing Daisies seems gimmicky and more suited to be a 12-issue comic book miniseries, but I'll give the first few episodes a chance on the DVR. If it sucks, I'll let Aloysius fall on the sword for that. In general though, his level of taste is high. [/ QUOTE ] Haha... thanks I guess I've actually only seen the pilot for Pushing Daisies, have not gotten a chance to view other episodes. But in the many years I've been a part of pilot seasons, this screening received one of the best responses I've seen, almost uniformly praised as "amazing". The premise is very high concept and seems gimmicky, but it's executed brilliantly... the acting is very good and the writing is very above average for a network one-hour. Also Barry Sonnenfeld directed the pilot, and is slated to direct future episodes. The look of the world he creates is really captivating (think Edward Scissorhands-esque). So I would definitely recommend watching the premiere, and seeing if it's something you'd enjoy and want to stick with. -Al [/ QUOTE ] I saw the pilot and was thoroughly charmed and delighted. Of course, that means it won't last 4 episodes. No way that it attracts and keeps an audience. Bionic Woman and The Sarah Connor chronicles had impressive pilots. I've heard that Bionic Woman is being reworked, so who knows. The SC chronicles felt like a real production. Special note of Summer Glau for firefly fans. Saw a bunch of other pilots (chuck, reaper, etc) and none looked like keepers. |

[/ QUOTE ]Good but not great. http://youtube.com/watch?v=ppWQbnnv5WE The thing that turned me off of DWTS was that it had become predictable. I predicted the final three contestants of season 3 after just the first episode. Plus, I just wasn't into dancing anymore. (We were taking Ballroom classes during season 2.) |
